Grace Kim - violin II
Grace Kim is an active orchestral, solo, and collaborative artist. Throughout her musical studies Grace has worked with such celebrated artists as Canadian violin virtuoso Karen Gomyo, Tango legend Pablo Ziegler, and world-renowned Classical guitarist Ernesto Bitetti. After receiveing a BM from Indiana University, Ms. Kim went on to pursue Graduate studies under the tutelage of Professor of Violin Kevork Mardirossian at IU JSOM. During her studeis, Grace was one of twelve international finalists invited to Moritzburg Festival Academy on full scholarship, a summer program for orchestral and chamber music. As a soloist, Grace has participated in numerous Canadian competitions including winning the Kiwanis Music Festival of Greater Toronto.
In addition to her extensive classical background, Ms. Kim’s musical versatility is manifested through her joy of playing jazz improvisation as well as performing Latin American music.
Alongside performing, Grace has found satisfaction in sharing her love and experience of music through the medium of teaching. She has taught for the Indiana University Summer String Academy as well as being a faculty and board member of the Porterville Intensive String Workshop; a summer music program for underprivileged youth.
In an effort to push the boundaries of the conventional concert experience, Grace plans to found a chamber music series, which would champion the diversity of music by presenting everything from classical music to world music to electronic music. Grace Kim is presently endeavoring to synthesize her passion for yoga and her knowledge of musicians’ health issues, to develop a yoga system tailored specifically to string players.
